Dalhousie is a hill station situated at height of 7997 Ft ( 2438 Mtrs ) Above Sea Level in Himachal Pradesh , India. Dalhousie hill station is located on and around five hills. Dalhousie is located on the western edge of the Dhauladhar range. Dalhousie town was established in year 1854 by the British governorgeneral Lord Dalhousie. Dalhousie covers an area of 14 square kms. The town has colonial charm and has Scottish and Victorian architecture in heritage bungalows. Actually The project for formation of Sanitarium in Chamba hills was originated with Lt. Col. Napier who was chief engineer of Punjab , In year 1856 Sanitarium was called as Dalhousie on the name of Lord Dalhousie , Viceroy of India.

Dalhousie is a known as gateway to the Chamba District of the Himachel Pradesh. Dalhousie hill region is a repository of ancient Hindu art & culture, temples, and handicrafts preserved under the longest running  dynasty since the mid-6th century. Chamba is great hub of this culture. Bharmour was the ancient capital of kingdom, Bharamor area is also home to Gaddi and Gujjar tribes and has 84 ancient temples from 7th-10th century AD.

Dalhousie is a clean & quiet town, with great sense of enchantment. Dalhousie hill station is spread over five low-level hills at the western edge of the Dhauladhar mountain range, At east of the Ravi River. The picturesque Dalhousie town is interspersed with the colonial-era buildings, low roofed shops and hotels. The beautiful pine-covered slopes around Dalhousie are intersected with paths and treks.

Pangi Valley located in remote area & highly inaccessible most of the year. Pangi is located between the Pir Panjal and the Greater Himalayan ranges. Pangi is home to Pangwal and Bhot tribes.

Rivers Ravi and river Chenab also knowns as Chandrabhaga take origin and nourishment from Himalayan . There are several hydroelectric projects and dams being developed o these rivers. There are many national forest and wildlife sanctuaries including Kalatop-Khaijjar located within its confines of Dalhousie. Pilgrimage  tour to Mani Mahesh Temple and Mani Mahesh Lake is an annual trekking event at Dalhousie. Several trekking routes over Dhauladhar range and Pir Panjal range are present to give a challenge to the serious trekkers, while there are lot of opportunities for the budding trekkers.

Subhash Baoli: Subash Baoli Commands lovely view of the snowcapped peaks of mountains, Subhash Baoli is sitauted approx 1.6 Kms away from the General Post Office Square, the spring or water source of Subhash Baoli is situated at an altitude of 2,085 metres (6,678 ft.) above sea level.

Satdhara: Satdhara is located on the way to Panjpulla, Situated at an altitude of 2,036mtrs. (6,678 ft.) Above sea level,Sat Dhara means seven springs,All seven springs are reputed to have great therapeutic values as they contain mica with medicinal properties in water.

Panjpulla : Panipulla is situated only 2 kms from Dalhousie town, One five bridges memorial is situated Panipulla, Memorial was built in memory of Late Ajit Singh(fighters) Panipulla also has a natural tank and creams that gives the spot a fitting serenity.
 
Jandhri Ghat: Jandhri ghat is situated at height of 2036 mtrs above sea level, Around half a kilo meter away from the Subhash Baoli, Jandhri Ghat is an beautiful Palace in the midst of tall pine trees. Ruler's of Chamba governed from Jandhri till the advent of Lord Dalhousie. The Jandhri palace houses many shikhar trophies. Jandhri also has beautiful spots for picnick in the middle of pine forests and natural beauty.

Bara Pathar : Bara Pathar is situated 4 Kms from Town ,inside of dense forest and one small temple of Bhulwani Mata is situated at Bara Pathar near Ahla village on way to Kala tope, An annual fair is celebrated at Barapathar in month of July.
 
Bakrota Hills: Barkota hills are situated approx 5 kms from Dalhousie town , At height of 2085 Mtrs above sea level, Bakota hills provide breathtaking views of snowclad mountains), Round is a walled circuit around Barkota hills.
 
Kalatope Bear Sanctuary : Kalatope wildlife bear sanctuary is located at height of  2440 mtrs (8000 ft ) above sea level, Kalatope sanctuary is situated 10 kms from Dalhousie town , Kalatope has a forest rest house and provides lovely views, Tourists can walk along the forested road through upper Nakorota hills and reach Lakkarmandi. Lakkarmandi is home of dhogri families,The  Lakkarmandi has 8600 feet high Dayan Kund peak on  right side and Kalatope bear sanctuary on the left side. Kalatope bear Sanctuary has a variety of wild animals like ibex, deer, bears and leopards.

Dainkund : Dainkund is situated at height of 2745 mtrs / 8000 ft above sea level, Dainkund is situated 10 kms from Dalhousie town, One can enjoy bird's eye views of river Beas, Ravi, Chenab from Dainkund.

Khajjiar: Khajjiar is situated at height of 6400 Ft/1951 Mtrs above sea level, Beautiful plain of Khajjiar is located 27 kms from Dalhousie, Khajjiar is a the saucer-shaped meadow,which is ringed by pines & has a lake set in the middle of it. Khajjiar name has been originated from name of local godd Khajjinag , Khajjinag temple belongs to the 12th century & a beautiful golf course is also situated there.

Generally Dalhousie has warm weather in morning & afternoon in month like June uly & gets cold in early monings & nights. Woole clothes & jackets are required, T- Shirts can be worn in morning of summers if full sunshine is there, The weather becomes very cold when it rains at Dalhousie or in winters , Snowfall can be witnessed some times in winters at Dalhousie.
